Dispense a small amount of cleanser onto your fingertips and apply to damp skin. Gently lather with water and focus on areas that need extra attention like the T-zone that is easily clogged, and then rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Avoid areas with active acne, inflamed, sunburned or compromised skin barrier with an open wound until it is fully healed.

How often can I use the Micro-Exfoliating Honey Cleanser?

The general guide for exfoliation is 2 to 3 times per week, for skin that is more prone to congestion, texture issues or hyperpigmentation problems, you may adjust to more frequent as it is gentle enough for daily use. On the other hand, if your skin is more sensitive or easily irritated, you may scale it back.

 

Are micro-beads safe for sensitive skin?

They are generally safe for all skin types because the microbeads are made from beeswax and carnauba wax which has a smooth and rounded surface rather than sharp edges. It is therefore much gentler on the skin including sensitive skin. For sensitive skin, begin with once a week using light pressure and assess how the skin responds before adjusting to increase the frequency. 

 

Will this cleanser dry out my skin?

No, the choice of surfactant in this cleanser is Stepan Mild PCL. Made without any sulphates, it is milder and does not dry out the skin, it's also infused with other hydrating properties which will help to keep the skin barrier well-moisturised. 

 

Can someone with oily and acne-prone skin use it?

Frequent exfoliation will help to prevent future breakouts, however, the Micro-Exfoliating Honey Cleanser is not recommended to be used on skin with active and inflamed cystic acne. It is advised to pause exfoliation until the acne has fully healed before restarting again to lighten post-acne marks.

 

Should I still use it if I have an open wound?

Any sort of exfoliation is not recommended on skin with an open wound as it may damage the skin, leading to infection, delaying the healing process and increasing the risk of scarring. 

 

Can it be used around the eye area?

No, the eye area is more delicate and the exfoliating beads may accidentally get into the eye and cause cornea abrasion.

 

How to use it with other exfoliating products or treatments?

To prevent overexfoliation, it is advised to take extra precaution when used with other forms of exfoliating or retinol products. In order to stay safe, you may consider using them on alternate and always monitor for reaction and adjust as tolerated. 

 

Is it recommended in the morning or evening?

The Micro-Exfoliating Honey Cleanser makes a great morning cleanser as it helps to remove overnight buildup and prep the skin for the day. Alternatively, it can also be used in the evening especially before using a mask or treatment to enhance the skincare absorption of the following steps.
